Your Champions Awards 2009
Cliff Elliott, Club Chair and Steve Kell,Club Secretary attended the Your Champions Awards Dinner on Friday 6th November 2009 at the Chester Crowne Plaza on behalf of Upton Football Club.
The event was organised by Trinity Mirror Cheshire – the sister publishers to the Wirral News – and our co-sponsors ScottishPower.
As Wirral News winners of the Sporting Champion category Upton Football Club went forward to the finals of the Trinity Mirror-Scottish Power Your Champions awards.
The competition was exceptionally tough and the judges had a hard time deliberating.
At the awards night, hosted by snooker star Willie Thorne, the names of the overall regional winners were announced. Upton F.C. did not win the overall award for Sporting Champions but as Steve Kell said, ‘The standard of the finalists was excellent with some very heart warming and upsetting stories - all finalists were a credit to the community that they work in ’
Jane Clare, Executive Editor for the Wirral News, said: “It was really inspirational to read people’s stories and see what they do to make a difference in their community.
“Picking winners was really hard. But everyone who was nominated deserves credit for the work they do.”
Christmas Disco 2009
Tickets are selling very well for this popular event. Priced at £5.00 the tickets include a buffet , the Top Tunes Disco Roadshow, a free raffle and a late bar.
The evening will take place on Friday 11th Decemberat the newly refurbished Sacred Heart Club, Hoylake Road Moreton commencing at 7.30 p.m.
