Results Sept 25/26
Another good wekend of results on the whole
Mini Soccer
The Under 7′s had a fantastic first win of the season 1-0 in a game they should have won by more only for a great goalkeeping display.
The Under 9′s had a great 3-0 win over Wallasey Wanderers to continue their unbeaten run in the league so far.
The Under 10′s conceded a goal late into injury time to snatch victory from them as they drew 3-3 with Peninsula Comets.
Girls
The Under 10 girls made it 2 wins on the trot to keep their 100% record with a resounding 6-0 win over New Brighton Saints. Anna Cull led the way with 4 goals to also earn the Player of match award with further strikes from Ellen Mcgowan and Sophie Wilson.
The Under 12 girls made it 2 wins on the trot with a 5-0 win against Wallasey Wanderers with all members of the large squad playing their part. Emma Johnson and Rebecca Pritchard-Howarth with 2 goals each and the other goal was scored by Katie Murray. The Player of match went to Shannon Navarro.
The Under 14 Rangers put up a great showing against the older Wirral Hawks Ladies in an end to end match unluckily going down 1-3 with both defences playing well. The Upton goal was scored by Jodie Williams with the Player of match going to Sarah Buckley for a fine goalkeeping performance.
The Under 16 girls gave the performance of the week as with only 6 players on a massive pitch they beat Delta Colts 6-4. Jess Taylor won Player of the Match for a fine performance in goal with the Upton goals coming from Abbie Bateman with a hat trick, Freya Mumford with 2 and a further strike from Louise O Brien.
Boys
The Under 11′s continued their 100% start to move top of the league(details to follow)
The Under 12′s after dominating the first half were punished and eventually lost 1-5 to Beechwood Falcons, both managers agreed this was not a true reflection of the game as the Upton performance was very good and deserved more. Guy Stratton grabbed the goal with Mike Cooper named Man of Match.
The Under 13′s continued their 100% start making it 4 wins out of 4 to remain top of the league with a comfortable 4-0 win at West Wirral. The scoreline maybe should have been more but they will settle for it no doubt, the goals came from Joe Abraham, Christian Rule, Liam Siddorn and Ben Casey with Ethan Doran claiming the Man of Match.
The Under 14′s had a great victory against rivals Olympic who had beaten them 3 weeks earlier. This time the score was reversed with a 3-1 victory in a very tense match thanks to 2 late goals. Ben Stobbart was named Man of the Match for a great performance at the back with the goals coming from Alex Pitt, Joe Murray and a great third from Morgan Woods.
Youth Team
The Youth Team won their first game of the season with a 2-0 victory over Heswall Youth, hopefully they will now start to pick up a few more points. The goals came from Ben Kiermon and Mike Mcgreary
Open Age
The Open Age went down 1-2 to Irby in a closely fought game. This gives them a record of 2 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats for the season so far.
Results Sept 18/19
Lots of games this weekend for all the Upton teams with good results for most.
Mini Soccer
The Under 7′s showed continued signs of improvement going down 0-3 to Manor Wolves their best score so far, I am sure it wont be long before their first draw or victory. Mathew Cubbin was named Man of Match.
The Under 9′s had a hard fought 2-2 draw with New Brighton Saints in the Cup before unfortunately going down 2-0 in the dreaded penalty shoot out. Reece Gannon and Connor Jones with the goals.
The Under 10′s had a narrow 1-0 victory in the Knockout Cup against The Rakers to progress to the next round
Girls
The Under 10′s had a great 2-0 victory against Heygarth with goals from Anna Cull and Ellen Mcgowan sealing the win with Taylor Mayes names Player of Match
The Under 12′s had a great 2-1 win against Rakers Belles coming from a goal down to claim the win. It was a great all round team performance with contributions from all the players. Emma Johnson scored both goals with Player of Match going to Charlotte Mcnay.
The Under 14 Rangers won 10-6 a scoreline you dont see very often against Wirral Hawks in what must have been an entertaining game. Jodie Williams led the way with 5 goals assisted by goals from Poppy Buckly, Shola Jenkins, Amy Webster and Isabel Nolan scoring and being named Player of the Match.
The Under 14′s had a comfortable 9-0 win over Greenleas with Emily Sullivan 3, Vicky Deegan 2 andEllen Harding all scoring their first goals for Upton with further strikes from Aira Temporal, Georgia Mcgough and Molly Johns. The Player of Match award went to Anna Croft
The Under 16′s completed a clean sweep for the girls with a 5-0 win over Waverton in a good all round team performance. Abbie Bateman scored 4 goals with Lucy Mckeown grabbing the fifth. The Player of Match went to Jess Davies.
Boys
The Under 11′s continued their great start with a resounding 15-0 victory against Wirral Rangers. Ewan Nolan led the way with a double hat trick with Aidan Keogh another hat trick star. There were also goals for John Adediran 2, Thomas Maher 2, Will Hellon and Rhys Jones with Man of Match going to Lewis Harrison.
The Under 12′s went down 2-7 in a Wirral District Cup match against Allport Hawks from the Eastham League a good effort as they only had 10 men. Guy Stratton got both goals and Tom Wilson was named Man of Match.
The Under 13′s maintained their 100% start to the season with a great 7-2 victory over Manor to go top of the league. Ethan Doran got 4 goals with others from Joe Abraham, Tyler Smith and Adam Sunners with Mike King named Man of Match.
The Under 14′s progressed to the second round in the Wirral District Cup beating Hoylake 4-0 with 2 goals from Joe Murray and other strikes from Callum Mernock and George Thomson who was also Man of Match.
The Under 15′s had a good 5-0 win against Peninsular Stars with Sean Walker grabbing a hat trick and Aaron Owens scoring twice. The Man of Match award went to Sean McCormack.
The Youth team went down 5-8 to Princess Villa in a high scoring game with a hat trick from Ryan Ward and other strikes from Ben Kiermen and Mike Mcgreary.
Results Sept 11/12th
This was the first full weekend of action for all sections of the club with those playing on Saturday unfortunately getting the worst of the weather conditions.
Mini Soccer
The Under 7′s showed a big improvement on the first weeks score losing 4-1 to FC Spartans with Paul New getting the first goal of the season for the new team with Mathew Cubbin claiming the Man of Match.
The Under 9′s got their first victory of the season with a 5-2 score against Shaftesbury Youth. Reece Gannon led the way with a hat trick with other goals from Connor Jones & Lewis Heath. The Man of Match award went to Jack Torpey.
The Under 10′s had a tough week going down 0-3 to Glenavon and will look to bounce back this week.
Girls
The Under 10′s girls saw their game abandoned at half time due to trhe awful weather conditions and both of the Under 14′s teams had their games called off also. Hopefully they can get going this week
The Under 12′s put up a great fight against The Rakers favourites to win the league before going down 5-0. It was not all one way traffic as they had a few near misses and hitting the post and worked really hard despite the poor conditions which bodes well for future weeks.
The Under 16′s were more than holding their own against the unbeatable Wallasey Wanderers only losing 2-0 at half time before losing a player to injury saw them down to 6 players and ending any hopes of getting something from the match. They eventually lost 11-0 but look forward to better fortune next weekend.
Boys
The Under 11′s had a great start to their first season of 11 a side with a resounding 6-1 win against Wallasey Wanderers. John Adediran scored 2 goals and was named Man of Match with further goals from Ewan Nolan 2, Michael Pearsall and Aidan Keogh.
The Under 12′s did very well to come from 2-0 down to draw level 2-2 at half time with goals from Guy Stratton & Greg Saville. They could’nt find another goal however and went down 4-2 in an eventful match against Wirral Rangers with Guy Stratton names Man of Match.
The Under 13′s continued their good start to the season making it 2 wins out of 2 with a resounding 8-0 away win at West Kirby Wasps. The goals were shared around with Jordan Taylor, Christian Rule and Joe Abraham getting 2 each with further goals from Ethan Doran and Adam Sunners completing the scoring. Jordan Taylor was also named Man of Match.
The Under 14′s got their first win of the season 5-2 against New Brighton Saints with 2 goals each for Callum Mernock & Joe Murray and the other from Alex Pitt. The Man of Match award went to Ben Stobbart.
The Under 15′s had a dissappointing start to the league campaign going down 5-0 at home to Peninsular Pythons with Mike Askew named Man of Match
Results Sept 4/5th
For all the junior sides this was the opening weekend of the season with the girls starting next weekend.
Mini Soccer
The Under 7′s started their first season of competitive football with an 1-8 defeat to Greenleas. By all accounts they did really well and we look forward to seeing the results improve over the coming weeks
The Under 8′s started off with a 2-2 against Shaftesbury Youth with goals from Callum Palmer and James Smith who was also voted Man of the Match
The Under 9′s also started off with a draw 1-1 against Peninsular Stars and were unlucky not to snatch a late winner. The goal was scored by Mark Lewis with Connor Jones taking the Man of Match
The Under 10′s started the season off with a 1-1 draw with Ali Hughes getting the Man of Match
Junior Boys
A great start to the season for the Under 13′s with a fine 5-1 victory against NBS. An early season hat trick from Joe Abraham plus goals from Christian Rule & Liam Siddorn did the trick with Ethan Doran named Man of Match
The Under 14′s had a disappointing start going down 3-1 to rivals Olympic. The goal was scored by Callum Mernock with Joe Murray earning the Man of Match
The Under 15′s had a great 3-1 away win in the Cheshire Cup to Wistaston Athletic and start their league campaign this week
Open Age
The Open Age team started their season a little earlier and so far have had a mixed bag with a good 5-2 victory against Lord Nelson, a 1-1 draw with FC Victoria and a slightly harsh 0-4 defeat to Seacombe Ferry
