There were no mini soccer games this week but they should be back in action next weekend
Girls
Under 10s – another win, this time 4 – 0 away against Beechwood – Anna Cull and Taylor Mayes scored 2 each, with Taylor Mayes the player of the match. Third in the table now behind two very strong teams, so a great performance so far.
Under 12s – also played Beechwood and won 4 – 0, though this game was at Fortress Overchurch. Shannon Navarro and Emma Johnson bagged two each, with Emma Johnson the player of the match.
Under 14s – lost at home to Manor 9 – 1. Georgia McGeough scored the only Upton goal, whilst Anna Croft was player of the match before she has a break for a few weeks for a minor operation – we wish her a speedy recovery!
Under 14 Rangers – no game this week
Under 16s – holiday, late withdrawal and injury meant only 5 could play at the Delph against Wallasey Wanderers Red. In the circumstances, losing 9 – 3 was a creditable score and if at full strength, we should be hopeful in the return fixture. Abbie Bateman scored all three ,and Jess Tayor was player of the match
Boys
The Under 11′s got back to winning ways with a 7-2 victory over Wallasey Wanderers with John Adediran netting a hat trick and taking the Man of Match award, there were further goals from Ewan Nolan 2, Rhys Jones & Michael Pearsall.
The Under 12′s put in a fantastic performance against the league leaders with only 10 men to only lose 4-6 to Wirral Rangers. Alex Highton scored 2 and Jonathan Turk scored 2 and was Man of the Match in a great team effort.
The Under 13′s came up against the formidable Rakers and put in a great showing deserving much more than the 1-5 scoreline suggests with Joe Abraham grabbing the goal and Tyler Smith the Man of Match.
The Under 14′s continued their fine form with a 12-0 thrashing of Birkenhead Youth with goals from Alex Pitt 3 who was also Man of Match, Joe Murray 3, Callum Mernock 2, Sam Kydd 2, Christopher Turk & Scott Billington.

Girls
Under 10s got back on the winning trail with a close 2 – 1 win against Liscard Ladies. Anna Cull scored both goals and Taylor Mayes was player of the match.
The Under 12s game was, by accounts from both sides, a great game with chances at both ends, and keeprs for both teams making good saves. Upton ran out 3 – 2 winners with goals from Charlotte McNay. Olivia Radford and Charlotte Carroll who was also player of the match.
Under 14 Rangers played a same age team, and ran out 8 – 2 winners against Greenleas. Socrers were Jodie Williams (3), Leah McNay (2), Isabel Nolan, Sarah Buckley (on temporary release from goal), and an own goal. Ceri Duff was player of the match for a strong performance in defence.
Under 14s won the important toss at Victoria Park, and were able to kick uphill first half against Wirral Hawks Girls on the steepest pitch in the league. Up 3 – 2 at half time, they were far too strong playing downhill in the second half, runnig out 11 – 3 winners. Scorers were Vicky Deegan (4), Ellen Harding (3) Georgia McGeough (2) Emily Sullivan and Hannah Smith who was also player of the match.
The Under 16′s had no game.
Boys
The Under 11′s just lost out 3-4 to Peninsular Stars with 2 goals for Aaron Finlay and the other from Aidan Keogh with John Adediran taking the Man of Match.
The Under 12′s made it 2 wins in a row with an entertaining 7-5 win over Peninsular Stars. The goals came from Guy Stratton 2, Greg Saville 2, Jonathan Davenport, Dan Cardus & Jonathan Turk.
The Under 13′s had no game.
The Under 14′s had a massive test away to Vauxhalls in the District Cup and deserved so much more than the 1-2 defeat they ended up with. It was a fantastic team performance with George Thomson scoring the goal and the team taking the Man of Match jointly.
The Under 15′s match report is attached. Starting without their normal centre-back pairing Upton took to the field against a much improved Hoylake team. Upton dominated play from the off, some lovely interchanges cutting open the visitors at will. Sean Walker finished off a flowing move from an AaronOwens cross and then latched onto a through ball from Karl Aspinall to hit his second. But thanks to a hatful of missed chances and some generous referring the teams went in level at 2-2 at half-time. The second half started in the same vein, with Upton dominating possession and Hoylake having the occassional counter attack. Then following an innocuous challeneg in the box Hoylake took a surprise lead from the penaly spot. This galvanised Upton to produce some of the best football of the match, Sean Scott starting to become more influential and from his shot on the turn Jack Hoijard-Beard turned in the rebound. Upton now dominated for the rest of the match with the best of their goals coming from a deep cross byAaron Owens met on the volley by Ben Casey and guided into the bottom corner of the net. Sean Walker then bagged his hat-trick after another great team move. Somewhere in all that Liam Parry’s penalty was well saved by the outstanding Hoylake keeper. Overall a very promising performance going forward but the absence of Tobi Lamb at the back was noticeable. Many of the match for Upton was Karl Aspinall, with another mesmerising display of skill and passing.
The Youth team had a fine win in the cup 3-1 over Princess Villa revenge for a defeat in the league earlier in the season.
The Open Age went down 1-4 to The Cheese in a league game

Girls
Under 10s winning run came to an end against a more experienced Rakers team, losing 5-0, but we are sure the girls will learn from the experience of playing a stronger team. Taylor Mayes was player of the match
Under 12s had a walkover, with Wirral Rangers unable to field a team. Undaunted, they had a friendly against the parents, winning 2-1!!
Under 14s played some excellent counter attacking football, running out 11-5 winners at Irby. Emily Sullivan 5, Vicky Deegan 4, and Ellen Harding 2. with Emily player of the match for the second week running, but it was a great performance from the whole team.
Under 14 Rangers lost 4-0 at home to unbeaten Greenleas Celtic. Playing older teams is proving difficult but there was plenty of good play that indicates only a little improvement will be needed to change defeats to wins. Player of the match was Jodie Williams
Under 16′s had the come back of the day as they were 3-1 down away to Irby before 2 late goals secured a point at 3 -3. Abbie Bateman scored all three, but Jess Taylor in goal was awarded player of the match
