Under 12 Rangers – no game this week
Under 12s – against Wirral Rangers, it was just one of those days, with chances cleared off the line, hitting the woodwork, but just not going in. The game ended 1 – 1. Olivia Radford scored, and Jess Farrrell was player of the match
Under 14s – travelled to Waverton, who only had the bare 7 players available. As with last week, Upton were the far more experienced side, but Waverton showed great strength of character to keep their heads up when the goals started to go in. Scorers in an 11 – 0 win were Jodie Williams (5), who was also player of the match; Isabel Nolan (2); Brittany White; Poppy Buckley; Sarah Buckley; and with probably the goal of the game, Katie Murray – an excellent volley from an Isabel Nolan corner

The 14’s goal was scored by Tyler Smith with Ryan Fleming Man of Match and the 15’s goals were scored by Mitchell Duggan 2, Callum Mernock, Scott Billington, George Thomson & Matty Doogan with Tyler Brace Man of Match.

The Under 7’s & Under 8’s had no game
The Under 9 lads 100% record continued for the season, and this time it was in their first ever cup game. Playing the same side they played last week in the league, the lads won by exactly the same score as last week. However, the pattern of the game was different, with the lads coming from behind to gain a good victory. The game started brightly with both sides playing some good passing football. We had a couple of good chances in the first few minutes, but couldn’t quite find the net. West Kirby were pushing the ball round well and causing us problems, and in fact went into the lead with a good move, aided by some indecision in our area. However, the lads responded well straight from the kick off and pushed forward. It wasn’t long before we levelled with a good run and finish by Alex. Some sturdy defending from Callum and Philip kept West KIrby at bay, and a good move down the right involving Tom and Callum produced a good ball in for Alex to get his second and take us into the lead, which we kept hold of till the break. The second half continued in the same vein with chances for both sides, and Alfie had to produce a couple of good saves to preserve the lead. With the lads forcing a number of corners it wasn’t long before the third goal came, courtesay of Tom’s boot after some good play in the West Kirby box. The game then went from end to end with chances for both sides, but some good breaking down of the opposition by Andrew and Chris kept the lead in tact. Then as the game was coming to the end a mistake at the back let West Kirby in to peg the lads back to 3 -2, and a tense last couple of minutes were on the cards. However, the lads done well to hang on and ensure they will play in the next round
The Under 10’s had a break from the league this week and got their first win of the season against Wallasey Wanderers in the KO Cup. Owen Burns, Reece Gannon, Connor Jones, Joseph Farrell and Man of Match Jack Torpey scored in a 5-1 win.
Girls
Under 10s were up against another Manor team this week – Manor Lightning. The girls put in a great effort but lost out 5 – 0, with Millie Eastham getting player of the match
Under 12s had a home win without playing as Waverton were unable to field a team
Under 12 Rangers came up against a physical Wirral Rangers team, and lost out 7 – 1. Anna Pippard scored the Rangers’ goal, and Ellen McGowan was player of the match.
Under 14s played a depleted Wallasey Wanderers, who could only bring 5 players to the game. Initially dropping to 6 v 5, Upton then played 5 v 5 for three quarters of the game. The Wallasey players were a great credit to their club, working hard throughout the game and creating several chances against an older and more experienced Upton team. We wish Rob and his team well for the rest of the season. It was also pleasing to see Upton playing some good passing football, and scoring several well worked goals. Jodie Williams was player of the match and scored 5; Leah McNay 3; Poppy Buckley, Brittany White and Rebecca Pritchard-Howarth 1 each.
Under 16s played out another draw, this time 3 – 3 with Irby. A fantastic game between two well matched teams, both playing good football. Abbie Bateman, Louise o’Brien and Alisha McGraa scored, and Aira Temporal was player of the match

Abiiity Counts Season Begins with Victory
Saturday saw the start of the ability counts season for our ability counts team and so off the teams set for the first of our monthly fixtures at moss farm.
The introduction of a couple of new players and our established players from last season, had the coaching staff looking forward to what would be a fantastic day for all involved.
The day could not have gone better with the sun shining brightly and parents, players and the coaches all looking forward to the game against Tranmere Rovers.
Both teams played there part in a great game and despite the heat they both battled hard to try and win there first game of the season, it was great to see both teams play so well.
The improvement in the Upton team was there for all to see with some great passing and movement throughout the game and it was great to see Upton rewarded for their good football with goals from Amelia 4, a hat-trick from Jay and 2 goals each from Jordan and Josh saw us run out 11-3 winners. Once again a great day was had by all, and everyone can’t wait for November’s fixtures.

The Under 10’s continued their run of good performances but came out losing 2-1 to NBS. Its only a matter of time before they pick up their first win. Lewis Heath got the goal with Connor Jones Man of Match
Girls
Under 10s - A difficult fixture for our inexperienced side against a strong Manor team, and Manor ran out 11- 0 winners. As with last year’s under 10s, the aim will be to improve over the season to close the score next time. Player of the match was Erin Mooney.
Under 12 Rangers were looking to build on last week’s performance, but ended up losing 4 – 0 to Waverton. This was a bit disappointing but hopefully the girls can bounce back next week. Player of the match was Elizabeth Morgan
Under 12s , contrary to to what you may see on the league website, made it four out of four (blame Brian for sending a duff text with an incomplete result!!). With only 7 players in the first half, on a hot day, Upton struggled to get the upper hand against a determined Rakers Belles team. Player of the match Taylor Mayes forced a defensive error for the opening goal to make it 1 – 0 at half time. Jess Farrell and Elizabeth Sullivan arrived at half time having taken part in a race, give some chance for substitutions, but Rakers equalised. The game was closely fought but Elizabeth Sullivan managed to score the winning goal – 2 – 1 to Upton
Under 14s also ran into determined younger opposition in the form of Irby Colts. In truth, Upton created a lot of chances and the defence held firm, but it was hard work all round in the midday heat. Rebecca Pritchard-Howarth came off the bench and broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a neat finish from a tight angle. The second half was equally tough going, but Jodie Williams crashed home a shot from distance and then Poppy Buckley, who made a series of great runs on the right, added a third. Isabel Nolan completed the scoring with a clinical finish from a cross. Great effort in the conditions all round from all the players, but Jodie Williams picked up her third player of the match award for the season after another dominant display in midfield
Under 16s drew 2 – 2 with Greenleas, and this division may well be the most competitive of all. Abbie Bateman and Louise O’Brien scored, with Abbie getting player of the match.
Boys
The Under 11’s continued their 100% start to make it 4 from 4 with an 8-0 win over Peninsula Comets. Jamie Johns grabbed a hat trick, Jamie Kavanagh 2, and Man of Match Ben Mcallister scored with a couple of goals also added. This has been a great start by the team in their first season.
The Under 12’s also made it 4 out of 4 to go top of the table with a convincing 14-0 win over Manor Sparks with goals from Man of Match Aaron Finlay 3, Josh Smith 3, James Gale 3, Ewan Nolan 2, Jack Foley, Thomas Maher & Dominic Lund.
The Under 13’s made the long trip to Runcorn Town in the Cheshire Cup and the 7-2 defeat was not really a true reflection on the game. Louis Ncadam got the goals with Tom Wilson Man of Match.
The Under 14’s went down 4-1 to an older age Manor side with another good effort, Tyler Smith got the goal with Christian Rule Man of Match.
The Under 15’s were in Cheshire Cup action and lost their first game of the season 3-1 to Ellesmere Port, Joe Murray got the goal with Tyler Brace Man of Match
