Our first game back after Christmas and again the lads did not let themselves down, played on a poor pitch both teams did well to play football in such conditions and with a full strength team to hand we started the game well and looked comfortable on the ball, when we lost the ball we gained it back quickly and looked very dangerous as we ventured forward, after about 15 minutes from a corner Joe Abraham scored the opener , we continued to push on and chances were being wasted as we looked for the second goal, to be fair their goalkeeper was on form and saved some remarkable efforts which frustrated the lads slightly, put we were in control and although the first half finished only 1-0 I felt confident we could add to our total second half.

The second half started very much like the first half, again Upton in control and dominating play, Jack Rhodes who had tantalised the Shore Villa defence all day got his deserved goal after 10 minutes shooting in from a tight angle to make it 2-0, we continued to play well and with 5 substitutes I continued to make changes all over the park, some of the lads where playing in un conventional positions but it didn’t look like as they all adapted brilliantly, after missing an up teen amount of chances Alex Ward made it 3-0 with a perfect lob over the keeper and shortly after Christian Rule made it 4 with a low hard driven shot… the game was effectively over by now but Ryan Fleming had the last say with an individual effort after beating several players on his way to goal. The game finished 5-0 and we deserved the points, great respect to Shore Villa they played very well in particular their keeper but on a better pitch it could have been 10.

Special mention to a couple of other players who didn’t get on the score sheet but their influence in the game was particularly noted, Liam Siddorn… fantastic at the back never put a foot wrong, was strong and accurate in his passing, Adam Sunners worked so hard all day, never stopped running and his passing was precise  also Jordan Taylor he felt so frustrated as being a centre forward and not scoring is unfortunate, but he had a perfectly good headed goal disallowed and hit the bar twice, but it is not always about scoring and his contribution was great and finally to Sean Stenhouse who made his debut our recent signing from Glenavon, Sean came on just into the second half and fitted in perfectly, looking strong in his tackles and eager to gain a place in the team,  sorry not to mention all the other lads but they too were good and it was difficult for me to pick a man of the match.

Great start to the year lads keep it going.
