The Under 8’s – No Details

The Under 9’s –  had a great 6-2 win against Peninsula Stars with 2 goals from Callum Palmer and others from Luke Pitt, Dylan Davies, Chris Hynes and Man of Match Alex Clarke

The Under 10’s – This week with both mamagers on their coaching course I agreed to go along and help 2 of the parents look after the boys for their game with Ashville Black. I was really looking forward to it having been given regular glowing reports on the boys from Steve & Zayd. From the first whistle the boys were flying and took the lead inside the first minute with a great strike from Lewis Heath. They continued to almost attack at will creating chance after chance as they swarmed all over Ashville. The goals continued to flow and a hat trick from Connor Jones ensured a 4-0 half time lead. The second half was much more even and Ashville pulled a couple of goals back whilst their keeper made some great saves to keep us from adding to our total so the game ended 4-2. Reece Pirie was voted Man of Match but their were a number of candidates from all 11 lads on the pitch. I was really impressed with the way the lads passed the ball and always looked to build from the back playing some lovely football at times. You forget how noisy and vocal the supporters get at this age and it was great to hear all the encouragement for the lads from the side. They will need that support this week when they play their cup semi final against Glenavon. Thanks to all for making me feel so welcome and it was a pleasure to come along and help out. Good luck for the weekend lads.

Girls

Under 10s kept up their fine recent form with a 3 – 0 win away at New Brighton Saints. Libby Gahan scored 2, and Mia Donaldson the other, whilst Rebecca Owen was player ofthe match

Under 12s kept up their unbeaten season  with a comfortable 6 – 0 victory at Irby. The home team showed a lot of effort but after early goals from Elizabeth Sullivan and Shannon Navarro, the result was never in any real doubt. Shannon went on to score a hat trick and Olivia Radford scored the other two goals. Elizabeth Sullivan was awarded player of the match for a real box to box performance, but all the girls contributed hugely to a deserved win.
