Under 10s recorded their first win of the season, against Beechwood. Libby Gahan scored the goals, whilst Tessie Nickson was player of the match. Although the next game is a tough test, against league leaders Manor, hopefully the improvement shown by the team over recent weeks will continue.

Under 12 Rangers were ready to build on last week’s win, but opposition Oxton Girls rang to cancel the game on Friday. Two points gained but the girls would rather have played the game, and kept the good work going!

Under 12s, who always play the team Rangers played the week before, ran out 8 – 1 winners at Irby. Morgan Mayes scored 4, whilst sister Taylor Mayes scored 2. Elizabeth Sullivan scored 2 and was player of the match

Under 14s were at home to Heygarth Utd in the reverse fixture of the first game of the season. The visitors were lively and played some good football, before Leah McNay  broke the deadlock late in the first half with a fine finish from Brittany White’s corner. Leah scored a second early in the second half, before Heygarth pulled one back. The game was closely matched until an emphatic finish from Jodie Williams, and a goal from Isabel Nolan  saw Upton finish 4 -1 winners. Rebecca Pritchard-Howarth was deservedly player of the match.

Under 16s played Waverton for the third time this season, the visitors having kindly agreed to reverse the fixture so that coach and parents could recover from our Xmas party the night before. A good game of football, with both sides playing well, was enjoyed by the home and away supporters, but Upton ended up winning 5 – 1 with goals from Louise O’Brien (2); Abbie Bateman; Lauren McGarrity; and Lucy McKeown, who was also player of the match.

The Under 11’s drew 2-2 with the Rakers with goals from Brendan Doherty & Neil Stanley with Man of Match Matt Benson.

The Under 14’s were in District Cup Q/F action against old foes The Rakers and despite a good effort were beaten 6-0 by a very good side
