The Under 8’s put 4 goals past Peninsula Stars with 2 from Joe Ryan and others from Cameron Parry & Aaron Clausen who was also Man of Match.

The Under 9’s had an entertaining game today with the lads easing into the next round of the cup, while extending their unbeaten run from the start of the season. Everybody played their part excellently today, with a number of the lads playing in different positions than usual. The game started brightly with both teams looking good on the ball and moving it about well. For the first 10 – 15 minutes the sides looked very evenly matched, and our lads were having to work very hard to produce any decent chances. However, the lads gradually started to put some good moves together using the wings with Callum and Dylan on both sides, and the chances started to arrive, with shots going close. At the other end, Glenavon were themselves putting some good moves together, and forced a few corners, but Philip in the centre was up to the task and cleared when needed. The game flowed from end to end, and the first goal arrived from the boot of Dylan, who followed up on a shot that was spilled by the Glenavon Goalie. This goal seemed to settle the lads, and the second followed not long after, with Tom producing a cracking strike from just inside the area, which the goalie had no chance of keeping out. The lads ( and parents ) were now buzzing, and heaped on the pressure. The third goal came not long before halftime, with Alex producing a good volley from the edge of the box over the goalie and into the roof of the net. The second half started much the same as the first, with chances and good possession for both sides. Glenavon attacked well, and the lads were pushed back for a while, but Will in goal and Andrew at the back produced a couple of vital clearances to keep the lead in tact. Again, at the other end with a number of corners the lads could not build on the healthy lead. However, after a number of chances for both sides, the fourth goal finally came. This time it was a fine solo run on the left from Dylan, who then produced a calm finish, which indeed put paid to the opposition. Final score 4 -0 and the lads march on to the next round. Alex Clarke was Man of Match.

The Under 10’s had a great victory in the cup beating high flying NBS Rangers 1-0 thanks to a Connor Jones goal with Owen Burns Man of Match.

Birkenhead could not keep the goals out for long and some great passing and finishes quickly put Upton well ahead. Upton ended up winning 12 – 1 with 5 goals (and player of the match) for Jodie Williams; 2 each for Poppy Buckley; Isabel Nolan and Leah McNay, and one for Ceri Duff.
