The Under 8’s – No Details

The Under 9’s –  had 2 games this week losing 3-0 to Peninsula Comets with Callum Hynes Man of Match and beating Peninsula Galaxies 3-0 with goals from Tom Carrington, Dylan Davies and Man of Match Luke Pitt. The Under 9’s have finished the season 7th out of 17 an excellent effort and have a cup semi final to look forward to and hopefully end the season with a final appearance.

The Under 10’s –  winning streak ended with a 4-1 defeat to NBS Rovers during the half term games with a goal from Connor Jones with Thomas Brier Man of Match  The team has 3 lge games to go and still have a chance of finishing 2nd which would be a great effort and also have the KO Cup final to look forward to..

Under 10s – put in another good performance to draw 2 -2 away to New Brighton Saints. Goals were scored by Mia Donaldson and Tessie Nickson,  whilst Rebecca Owen was player of the match

Under 12s – played 3 times in the last week. On 10th April they squeezed narrowly past Waverton with Shannon Navarro scoring the winner with only seconds of the game to go. The final score was 2 – 1 with Elizabeth Sullivan both player of the match and scoring the other goal.

On 12th April under 12s and under 12 Rangers played their return league derby. Rangers started brightly and worked hard to close their opponents down. However, Olivia Radford opened the scoring mid way through the half and the under 12s pressed home the advantage to take a healthy lead at half time. Rangers re-grouped and put in a great second half, player of the match Anna Pippard pulling off some great saves in her quarter match in goal. Elizabeth Morgan’s superb shot went narrowly over the bar, but the under 12s ran out 6 – 0 winners. Goals were scored by Olivia Radford (2), Charlotte Carrol, Elizabeth Sullivan, Shannon Navarro and Jasmine Pugh. Players of the match were Charlotte McNay for under 12s and Anna Pippard for under 12 Rangers.

On 14th April under 12s played Rakers in the Knock Out Cup semi final at Foxfield. This is a very tight pitch that puts an emphasis on good passing rather than the long ball, and the game was an end to end affair. Rakers had beaten league leaders Manor Torpedoes earlier in the week, but then lost to Waverton, which indicates that as the season progresses, teams in this division are getting closer in ability. Player of the match Jess Farrell  was instrumental in securing a win for Upton, scoring 3 goals, whilst Elizabeth Sullivans excellent finish put the final score at 4 -1. In a weekend dogged by goal line technology issues at the top level, it is well worth a mention that the Rakers’ line confirmed to the referee that Upton’s third goal had crossed the line before being recovered by the keeper. Credit to all the players, who put great effort into the game wherever they were asked to play. It has to be remembered that in remaining undefeated so far, this team (as is the case for our under 10s and under 12 Rangers) has no goalkeeper, and players take the role in turns.

The Under 11’s – have had a few matches drawing 2-2 with Hoyalke with 2 goals from Ben Mcalister, Matt Benson Man of Match. They then lost 7-1 to Glenavon with a Jamie Kavanagh goal, Matt Benson Man of Match.
