Under 11s End of Season Report 2007/08
As soon as the Mini Soccer season ended in May 2007 we began trials for lads to win a place in the Under 11s squad. We had 30 lads turn up week in week out and after playing a number of friendly games we decided on the 16 lads we were going to pick. This unfortunately meant we lost a number of lads, some who had been with the club for a number of years.
The lads very quickly settled into the new rules and after a number of pre season games we approached the start of the season feeling quietly confident that we would mount a serious challenge and be one of the teams to beat.
After coming through a very tough opening game with a win the lads kicked on and put in some fantastic performances so by the time the Christmas break came around we were sitting at the top of the league still unbeaten.
When we finally started playing again the standard of all the teams had risen and games were a lot closer and much more competitive but we continued to be the team to catch despite losing our first games of the season.
After a number of tense games it all came down to the final game of the season and the lads cheered on by a record attendance finished in style with a 10-1 victory to claim the Under 11 League Title a fantastic achievement from all 16 lads who have been superb from start to finish.
I would like to thank all the parents for their help and support this year especially taking the nets down after the games. I would also like to thank the lads for all their hard work and efforts this year well done you got your just deserts.
