Under 15s End of Season Report 2007/08
Entering the season we had a squad of fifteen players but unfortunately lost two players very early. This had the knock on effect that we found ourselves playing a number of matches without a full squad and sometimes less than eleven players.
The players dug in and produced some excellent football where the team were often complimented for the attitude and doggedness by the opposition.
The wonderful weather intervened and over the Christmas and New Year period a lot of matches were postponed. We found ourselves in the bottom third of the table playing tough games against the top teams. Although we were losing a number of the matches the performances were encouraging.
Throughout the season we have had a core of players that have turned out week in week out and their efforts paid of towards the end of the season with good results. One of the highlights of the season was a draw against Greenleas in a very hard fought contest.
The season was rounded of with a trip to Madrid. The lads got to play in a friendly with one of the local teams which was a great match and enjoyed by all. Further to this we had a tour of the Bernabau Stadium with the trip culminating in us watching Real Madrid against Athletico Bilbao. The trip was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed by the squad.
My thanks go to Jacqui Dunn for collecting the subs and not least to Vic Wilson my assistant manager. Thanks also go to the Committee for their support. Thanks also the lads, once again making a great effort and making my season all the more enjoyable.
Simon Harrison.
