Under 6s End of Season Report 2007/08

June 23, 2008 · Filed Under Upton FC - Under 6

The season started of very slowly with only 4 players but by the end of the year we had 10 players who have stuck together to the end.

We have only been able to train this season due to no league being available for our age group. However, in April we had the opportunity to enter a team into the North West tournament at Everton. Throughout the day, we lost 2 games and won the rest finishing 2nd overall behind Everton’s academy team. I was very proud of all 10 players in particular when we beat Glenavon A team 1–0 with a brilliant goal by Connor.

We also had a very good result against a team from Warrington where we won 7–0, with Kyle scoring a hat trick from defence. Ellis and Sam also got onto the score sheet.

A couple of weeks ago we played a team called Future Stars in a friendly, which we lost 1–0. The team we played were currently under 7s going into under 8s next season. The whole team played really well and we were only beaten by a long shot which caught our keeper off guard.

This Under 6 team completed their Soccer Skills over the past month with all the players completing the stars to a high standard for their age. Over the past couple of months we have unearthed a potential new Neville Southall in goal and a star centre back and a striker who puts the ball away with ease when 1 on 1 with the keeper but as a team, every player have the ability to play in each position which will be extremely useful in the match conditions next season.
