Lockdown Latest

This time of the year we are usually enjoying many of our teams playing in Cup Finals as we end the season and look forward to Summer Tournaments, Trips to Holland and of course Presentation Day.

Unfortunately season 2019/20 is not like any normal season as the whole world is caught up in the Covid-19 Pandemic causing major disruption to everyday life for everyone.

The main and most important thing above all is that hopefully everyone stays safe and healthy and we come out the other side.

In terms of Upton Football Club we know people are keen to get back to training and playing but we have to be patient and follow guidelines set for us in terms of large gatherings and social distancing.

For that reason we have had to take the decision to cancel this year’s Presentation Day set for June. We know this will be disappointing for everyone and it was not a decision taken lightly but unfortunately was the only option left open for us. We also took the decision to suspend subs payments for the last few months which we hope was helpful to many at this time.

That in effect ends the 2019/20 season and we look ahead to what we hope will be the 2020/21 season. At the moment we have no idea when this will start or when people will be allowed to start training and mixing again so we ask everyone again to be patient, when we have any news your managers will be in touch with you.

This is an unprecedented time and we have no answers at the moment but again stay safe and we look forward to all meeting up again as soon as possible.

Award Winners!!!

May 22, 2015 · Filed Under Club News · Comment

Upton Football Club are delighted to announce we have won the prestigious FA Charter Standard Community Club of the Year Award from the Cheshire FA. This is a massive achievement for the club so thanks to everyone that played a part in making this happen. Below is an extract from the Cheshire FA website announcing the award winners.

Grassroots Heroes in Cheshire recognised in the 2015 FA McDonald’s Community Awards.

Local grassroots heroes from across Cheshire FA have been named as County winners of the 2015 FA Community Awards by the FA and its Community Partner, McDonald’s.
In its sixth year the annual FA Community Awards presented by McDonald’s aim to recognise and reward the people and organisations that are driving grassroots football.
The Awards build on the continued commitment of Cheshire FA to improve the standards of community football and to increase participation across all aspects of the game through The FA Charter Standard Leagues and Clubs.
The seven, who have been recognised for their commitment to grassroots football, were selected as winners by a panel of County FA representatives made up of staff, council members, two FA Tutors and two of last year’s winners.
The winners will now be shortlisted for the 2015 Regional FA Community Awards, where they will be judged alongside other county winners to represent the North West region in the National Awards shortlist.
The seven Cheshire FA award winners are:
People’s Choice Award (Outstanding Contribution to Community Football) – Philip Lewis (Old Altrinchamians FC)
The FA Charter Standard Club of the Year Award – Runcorn Linnets JFC
The FA Charter Standard Community Club Award – Upton FC (Wirral)
The FA Charter Standard Development Club Award – Oxton Ladies FC
The FA Charter Standard League Award – Cheshire Girls Football League
Volunteer of the Year Award – Carla Parker (Lymm Rovers Juniors FC)
Young Volunteer of the Year Award – Matthew Moran (Great Moor County JFC)
The individuals who have won will each award receive as County winners a certificate, leather embossed folder and two tickets to an event hosted by the FA. The Charter Standard Club winners will also receive equipment packs and along with the Charter Standard League winner will receive Coach Education bursaries.
The seven award winners will be formally presented with their certificates at a Cheshire FA awards event later in the year.
This year we had a record number of nominations cast for our Community Awards. We received in excess of 100 nominations, which was the second highest by a County FA nationally.

To find out more about the awards, read about last year’s winners and follow the progress of Cheshire’s 2015 County Winners, visit: TheFA.com/CommunityAwards
National Award winners will be announced at The FA Community Awards ceremony, presented by McDonald’s and will be held at this year’s FA Community Shield, sponsored by McDonald’s, in August.
Simon Gerrard, Cheshire FA CEO said: “The grassroots awards are a chance for us to recognise those volunteers, coaches and clubs that sacrifice so much throughout the year and say thank you to them. Without them we wouldn’t have safe and structured environments where youngsters can develop their footballing talent.
“We are delighted that The FA and McDonald’s have provided us with the opportunity to recognise them through The FA Community Awards and we wish them all the best at the regional and hopefully national stages of the Awards.”
Cheshire FA would like to extend our congratulation to all our County winners of the 2015 FA Community Awards, presented by McDonald’s
