The Under 7’s lost 6-1 to Ashville with Man of Match Ashton Ventre getting the goal
The Under 8’s lost 4-0 but the lads battled hard and did there best to get themselves a goal. Cameron Parry was the man of the match whilst Sam Whelan made some excellent saves.
The Under 9’s Unfortunately this week saw our unbeaten start to the season come to an end. However, the lads produced a great performance and were unlucky to lose. A win would have seen the lads move above the opposition, and on the performance this could well have happened. We started very well, and pushed Glenavon back with some good strong tackling coupled with good wing play. A number of chances came, but unfortunately the ball just wouldn’t find the net. The Glenavon goalie was playing well and was holding on to shots coming in. With Chris playing very well in the middle, and Callum and Dylan doing some fine work on the wings, the chances kept coming and we thought a goal would soon come. Glenavon themselves produced some good chances, but Andrew was very solid at the back, and when they did get past him Alfie was there to again produce some great saves. Luke upfront was also playing well and was unluck not to score, and Alex hit the inside of the post, but the ball bounced out kindly for Glenavon, so the half ended goalless. The second half was much the same with Upton pressing, and Glenavon hitting us on the break. Unfortunately Glenavon struck twice in a short time, which was harsh for the lads, as both goals were very fortuitous. The first dropped kindly in the box from a corner, and with our lads trying to clear, it cannoned off a couple of players before falling nicely for them to poke in. The second was even luckier. A quick breakaway found Alfie in a one on one situation with their striker, and Alfie saved excellently only to see the ball rebound off their striker to go over the line. This didn’t deter the lads, who made all the pushing, and again Alex was unlucky to see another quick strike come back off the post. It just wasn’t our day as the final whistle went, but the lads could be very proud of their performance, and on another day would have won this quite easily. Man of the Match Callum Palmer
